The lights of the Teatro de la Maestranza are turned off and the teachers of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, conducted by maestro Alfonso Casado, begin to play the first notes of Beethoven’s ‘Fifth Symphony’. This is the beginning of the sessions for schoolchildren that are being organized from Wednesday until Friday with highlights of the films ‘Fantasia’ and ‘Fantasia 2000’ Disney for about 5,000 students from 45 schools in Seville and province, as well as Cadiz, Huelva and Cordoba.
As the projection progresses, the Symphony is playing well-known pieces within the classical repertoire, such as ‘Symphony No. ‘Pastoral’ by Beethoven, the ‘Nutcracker’ by Tchaikovsky, ‘The Firebird’ by Stravinsky or ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ by Elgar, which has raised many laughs for the vicissitudes suffered by Donald Duck while trying to get the animals to climb into Noah’s ark.
